Albulena Borovci (Lena) is a costume designer and stylist based in Boston, MA. Born and raised in Kosovo, she started her career at the National Theater of Kosovo in 2008. She came to the U.S. to continue her education at Carnegie Mellon University - School of Drama where she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Costume Design in 2013.
Lena’s experience spans a wide spectrum of work ranging from witty and lush 18th century period costumes to innovative contemporary devised theatrical pieces. As a costume designer and stylist she has worked in multiple films, TV and marketing campaigns. Lena loves 35mm film photography and explores composition with her Minolta SRT 100X.
Lena is the recipient of the USITT's prestigious Zelma H. Weisfeld Costume Design & Technology Award in 2013. In the same year her work is recognized by Costume Society of America with the Early Career Award of Excellence in Costume Design & Technology. In 2015, Lena was selected as one of 30 participating artists in the I-Art: Artist in Residence program to explore the theme of “Diffused Pole on the Identities and Contemporary Arts of Sicily” in Sicily, Italy. In 2018 Lena was appointed as a National Curator of the Republic of Kosovo for the global costume design exhibition Innovative Costume of the 21st Century: The Next Generation.
